Rural Water Supply – Davis Farm
Hamilton, Victoria

Installation of the pump on one of the artesian bores.

The Davis family owns a cattle farm in Hamilton, Victoria, and previously irrigated with water sourced from two artesian groundwater bores situated on the property. The installation of a second centre pivot and increased allocation volume would allow them to meet increasing cattle feed requirements. Southern Rural Water (SRW) requested a hydrogeological assessment be undertaken to amend the current licence.

Valenza Engineering were appointed to assist the Davis family by conducting a Hydrogeological Assessment supporting a Take and Use Licence Application.

The scope of works involved conducting step tests and constant rate pumping tests, collecting groundwater chemistry samples, conducting drawdown assessment and identifying potential risks for the surrounding environment and users.

From this analysis we recommended groundwater management measures, including monitoring to mitigate any potential adverse impacts on the beneficial uses.

The application was successfully approved by SRW.
