Senior Hydrogeologist
About this Role:
Valenza Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior Hydrogeologist to join our Melbourne team to support project work within the Australian and Asia Pacific region. This is an opportunity to work in a high-performing team environment that delivers innovative sustainable water management and environmental outcomes for our mining, construction, and water resources clients. You will be experienced in the mining industry, with a strong background across all types of mining methods, including open pits, underground operations, block cave, and sub-level caves. This role will be involved with all aspects of consulting, including proposal and bid preparation, client engagement, and the technical development and delivery of project work scopes under the direction of our senior leaders. Your solid expertise and experience in construction and mine groundwater control will be essential to the completion of hydrogeological site assessments, site conceptualisation, water resource evaluation and environmental management.

Key Responsibilities:
· Lead and manage hydrogeological projects across various mining environments.
· Provide expert guidance to junior team members, ensuring high-quality work and development.
· Review, validate, and provide feedback on technical reports.
· Conduct site visits and maintain strong client relationships.
· Deliver technical excellence in all aspects of hydrogeology.
· Produce hydrogeological reports and specifications.
· Demonstrated interpretative and analytical skills, with strong knowledge of engineering geology and hydrogeology.
· Effectively communicate with all internal and external stakeholders.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and work continually to develop business.
· Ability and experience in delivering high-quality standards to clients.
· Expectation to travel and complete site work in accordance with project requirements, along with a full valid Australian driving license.
About you
· Tertiary Degree in Hydrogeology, Geology or a Geoscience Degree or a Master’s/PhD pertaining to hydrogeological studies or similar (water science), preferable.
· 15 years of hydrogeology experience, particularly in mining across various commodities.
· Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage projects.
· Mining industry experience in the Australian and Asia Pacific region (mandatory)
· Strong client-facing skills, with experience conducting site visits.
· Proficiency in reviewing and validating technical reports.
· Demonstrable experience/exposure to groundwater modelling (desirable however not essential).
· Flexibility with location, preferably based in Melbourne.
· Excellent communication skills, able to track and report project progress on a consistent basis to various stakeholders, considering strategy, scope changes, and progress.
· Utilise industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout the project life cycle to ensure technically excellent outcomes.
· Excellent analytic skills and the ability to write concise technical reports.
· Full legal working rights in Australia (mandatory)
